About P5b

There are 10 great girls and 15 brilliant boys in P5b. We support one another to be the best that we can be by being safe, ready and respectful in school. During this term, we will share lots of new and interesting learning experiences across the curriculum.

In Numeracy and Maths we will read and interpret bar graphs and picture graphs to find information; work with centimetres, metres and kilometres to estimate and measure lengths; and spend lots of time exploring fractions. Children with access to the internet at home can login to ‘Sumdog’ to keep practising and improving number fluency.

David Almond’s, ‘My Dad’s a Birdman’, is our new novel to support guided reading in class. This funny and well-crafted story will help us to explore the importance of hope, encouragement and loving relationships in challenging times. As always, children are encouraged to share stories and read for pleasure at home. Books can be borrowed from school or our local library to support this.

For our topic we will investigate the Picts and try to discover more about these mysterious ‘painted people’ who protected Scotland from the Roman Empire!

In RE, during the season of Lent, we will share the account of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus from Mark’s Gospel and reflect on how these events are central to the celebration of Holy Mass and the Catholic meaning of eternal life.
